WEEK THREE

Week three was about library catalogue where we learnt about information and directions on how to use the online catalog of AIU  library before i don't know about library catalog , how can i found a book web based on OP AC (Online Public Access Catalog).

Library Catalog is a numbered list of all the resources of library. Its the best tool when we need to find something specific in the library such as titles of periodicals (Newspaper, Magazines, Journals), Books, Maps etc.

OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) : A computerize system is an online bibliography of a library collection that is available to the public. The OPAC search from users searching by any combination of author title, subjectivity word, date or format and the users can recover information in variety of ways, it provides very quick search. OPAC main function is to provide the library with more information and it gives also lot of advantages such as instant information, easier to user to find books, easy to use.

Similarly in week 3 we also learnt about the types of searching. First one is Browse search its an online catalogues and most data bases have a Browse search option that allows the user to search in alphabetical indexes.

Keyword search : is where we can just enter a single phrase or word to search for within all the catalogues .
